How to use Tektronix oscilloscope novice engineer

An oscilloscope is a widely used electronic measuring instrument.It can convert invisible electrical signals into visible images, which is convenient for people to study the changing process of various electrical phenomena.So, how to use the oscilloscope correctly?

The resistance of the probe should be the same as the interface resistance of the host, so as to ensure the accuracy.If you want to measure high voltage directly, use a high-voltage probe (high-voltage probes are more expensive, ranging from thousands to tens of thousands).

Correctly connect the power probe of the oscilloscope and the power cord of the host to the host, and power on it.

At this point, what you see on the oscilloscope screen is an empty carrier waveform.Connect a set (two) of probes to the self-test terminals of the oscilloscope (usually next to the screen: lower right corner) and see that the waveform output by the oscilloscope should be a square wave.If the square wave has a peak waveform that warps upwards or downwards, you need to use a small screwdriver with a plastic bottle provided by the oscilloscope to adjust the screw in the small hole on the voltage probe, so that the waveform presents a standard square wave.Once the preparations are complete, the oscilloscope is now ready to use.

Connect the voltage probe to the DUT, press the trigger, and generally set the trigger mode to edge trigger to capture the waveform well.Use the horizontal and vertical knobs on the right side of the tektronix oscilloscope to adjust the position of the oscilloscope screen image.

Next to the other keys, you can capture waveforms and measure various parameters of the signal (max and min, peak-to-peak, average, period, and frequency).There's also a button for adjusting the timebase, in other words zooming in on dense, narrow waveforms so you can see more closely.Another commonly used key is reset, which can be pressed to restore the factory settings and re-measure.

Tektronix oscilloscope measurement method:

1, and amplitude and frequency (take the calibration signal of the test oscilloscope as an example).

2. Insert the oscilloscope probe into the socket of channel 1, and set the attenuation on the probe to "1" position;

3. Set the channel selection to CH1 and the coupling mode to DC;

4. Insert the probe into the hole of the calibration signal source, a light trace will appear on the oscilloscope screen;

5. Adjust the vertical and horizontal knobs to stabilize the waveform displayed on the screen, and place the vertical fine-tuning and horizontal fine-tuning in the calibration position;

6. Read out the grid number of the waveform in the vertical direction, multiply the indicated value of the vertical attenuation knob to get the amplitude of the calibration signal;

Read out the square of each cycle of the horizontal waveform, multiply it by the indicated value of the horizontal scan knob, and get the cycle of the calibration signal (the reciprocal of the cycle is the frequency);

7. The frequency of the calibration signal is generally 1kHz and the amplitude is 0.5V, which is used to calibrate the frequency of the internal scanning oscillator of the oscilloscope.If it is not normal, the corresponding potentiometer of the oscilloscope (internal) should be adjusted until it matches.
